[00:00:02] The method is the magic.
[00:00:06] Why 501 is more powerful than 500.
[00:00:12] Hey, it's Bradley Schrobineau. It's early.
[00:00:16] And welcome to Fast Friday.
[00:00:19] This week was big.
[00:00:21] Three of my closest friends came to visit. Three German attorneys I've known for decades.
[00:00:27] We biked through Dutch streets, boated through canals, drank wine, and more importantly, Franziskanner Heiferweizen. We talked deeply, we laughed hard and reconnected in the way only old friends can.
[00:00:45] It was a celebration, a gathering that reminds you this is why you do the work in the first place.
[00:00:54] It was Kairos time.
[00:00:56] Those sacred, unscheduled moments of magic. And then yesterday, they left.
[00:01:04] And last night, I didn't celebrate with one more round. I didn't eat dinner. I fasted.
[00:01:14] And this morning, I meditated.
[00:01:17] Day 501.
[00:01:21] Now, yesterday was 500. A shiny number, a finish line moment, the kind of thing you share.
[00:01:29] But today.
[00:01:30] Today is quiet.
[00:01:32] Today is personal.
[00:01:34] Today is mine.
[00:01:37] And I realized something while I sat in silence.
[00:01:41] This is the moment that matters.
[00:01:44] Because 500 is for the crowd.
[00:01:47] But 501, that's for you.
[00:01:51] That's the day you keep going.
[00:01:54] Not because of a streak, but because of a standard.
[00:01:58] Not for applause, but for alignment.
[00:02:03] And let me tell you, after skipping dinner last night, I slept better. I woke up energized. I feel lighter, clearer, more alive.
[00:02:14] And I love food. I love good wine.
[00:02:19] And I especially love Franziskaner Heiferweizen with German friends in a Dutch harbor in the summertime.
[00:02:28] That's Kairos.
[00:02:31] But this.
[00:02:32] This Friday morning, this fast Friday is Kronos.
[00:02:39] And here's the thing. We live most of our lives in Kronos time. It's not a bad thing. It just means we need to learn how to make the regular days feel meaningful.
[00:02:52] So how do we do that?
[00:02:56] The method is the magic.
[00:03:01] The method is. Is the magic.
[00:03:07] The party is beautiful, but the practice is powerful.
[00:03:11] The celebration is fun, but the consistency is transformative.
[00:03:19] It's not the number that matters. It's what the number represents.
[00:03:25] And that brings me to one of my favorite scenes in the Shawshank Redemption.
[00:03:31] Andy Dufresne writes one letter a week to the state asking for books to build a prison library.
[00:03:39] One letter every week for years.
[00:03:43] Eventually, the books arrive.
[00:03:46] Brooksie says, now you can stop writing a letter every week.
[00:03:51] And Andy replies, now I'll write two letters a week.
[00:03:58] Because he wasn't just trying to get something.
[00:04:01] He was becoming someone different, becoming someone bigger. And when he reached the milestone he didn't stop.
[00:04:13] He leveled up.
[00:04:15] That's what 501 is.
[00:04:18] It's the day after the party. It's the next letter. It's the quiet continuation of who you've decided to become.
[00:04:32] So here's my Fast Friday challenge to you.
[00:04:36] When the friends go home, when the plates are cleared and the posts are published, what do you do?
[00:04:45] Who will you be next?
[00:04:50] Do you stop?
[00:04:51] Or do you sit down, breathe in and say, now I'll write two letters a week.
[00:04:59] I'm Bradley Charbonneau.
[00:05:02] This is Fast Friday, and tomorrow that will be day 502.
[00:05:10] Because the method is the magic.
