[00:00:02] Hey, good morning. [00:00:04] It's early. [00:00:05] It's 5:30 on a Friday. You know what that means? [00:00:08] It's fast Friday. [00:00:10] Do you know why it's fast Friday? [00:00:12] Because I fasted yesterday. [00:00:14] Fast on Thursday and Friday becomes fast Friday. [00:00:18] Why is it fast? For one thing, it's 5:30 in the morning. [00:00:23] Number two thing. Not only is it 5:30 in the morning, but I am wide awake. I, I'm downstairs, I'm set up, I've got my tea, I've got, I'm ready to roll. I'm working on my book, I should say, playing with my book. [00:00:38] It's light out, it's July, the sun comes up at like 5 and I am raring to go. Like it's a normal person's 9am fast Friday. [00:00:52] Have I mentioned lately I'm not a doctor? Have I mentioned lately that you should check with your, your physician or your doctor or your medical profess about fasting and if it's right for you, but for me, it's really about skipping dinner on Thursday night. You want to hear an odd one, like an odd benefit? And that is that when you're eating less, what you do eat, you, you want to be better, you want to eat healthier foods. I am. I'm gravitating towards healthier food. [00:01:28] You know, I don't know, you know, if you don't know me, you might think I'm a, you know, avocado toast eating California boy, but I'm more of like a Taco Bell eating California boy. And if you're not from the US and you don't, well, hopefully you don't know Taco Bell. Hey, no offense, Taco Bell. I grew up on Taco Bell. I love Taco Bell. I still love Taco Bell, but it's, I, I'm sorry, Taco Bell, but you're not exactly high up on the, on the hierarchy of healthy foods. [00:01:56] And yet I don't crave that. I mean, right now what I'd really like is an apple. I don't think I had to go look. I don't think we have any. [00:02:09] Wow. [00:02:11] I don't know what else to say other than nothing tastes as good as this feels. [00:02:19] I fasted yesterday. I think I had a piece of toast with peanut butter in the morning, if I remember correctly. And don't get me wrong, like, I'm having smoothies. I'm definitely getting some calories. I'm kind of into liquid diets like smoothies and juice. I know juice has a lot of sugar and I definitely have that. So that means I have a lot of sugar. I get it. But it, it's also a building process. I'm just building down to get less and less, you know, fewer and fewer calories in me and then I can stabilize where I am just, just eating less, frankly. And then another oddball benefit is that my energy is more stable during the day and I don't have big dips, right? And then I actually, I want to be more active. [00:03:12] It's this whole weird process that you would think would be the opposite. There's so much sort of unexpected magic. [00:03:21] I think I have an entire presentation called Unexpected Magic of Intermittent Fasting. [00:03:29] And this is part of it. [00:03:32] So that's all for today, really. Just wanted to bring home that one point that I'm craving healthier foods. And if you are, if you are someone who craves junk food. I totally crave junk food on, on occasion. And it's, but it's more when I'm not fasting. It's when I'm a blob on the couch and I'm watching Netflix and I, by the way, popcorn, I, I should like, I should have a, A article in the law book. Yeah, that's what it's called, the law book. [00:04:03] How popcorn is. [00:04:05] I don't even want to hear if there's anything bad about it. Cuz I love popcorn. And yes, sometimes I put butter and yes, sometimes I put like old Amsterdam cheese finally grated. There's my little secret. I just gave it to you. There you go. You got to listen to Fast Fridays to get the, you know, the real deal. [00:04:22] To get the secret insights, to get the, the wisdom. [00:04:28] So there we go. [00:04:30] It's Fast Friday. I hope you're having a great Friday and if not, ask your doctor. But I can highly recommend skipping dinner on Thursdays. You know, my ideal, ideal idea? Ideal idea, that's fun. Ideal idea of a retreat. [00:04:48] And I think that almost nobody is going to like this idea, but I like this idea. And that would be like a fasting retreat where you arrive, I don't know, Thursday or Friday maybe. It's just a weekend, right? And either you eat nothing or not much or what? You know, according to the doctor. Don't forget the doctor. [00:05:09] And I don't know, I just, I just can imagine waking up early. Did I mention it's 5:30? It's 5:30. I think I went to bed at 10:30. What's that? I mean, seven hours. I mean I went to bed kind of early, but I wake up when you're fasting. So your body, it's like it doesn't have anything else to do at night, so it just rejuvenates your energy. It replenishes your, your battery store, so to speak, because it's not busy digesting your double cheeseburger you had last night. So you're the little workmen in your body I was imagining. So factory workers and they're just like, hey, hey, Joe, what are we doing tonight? Are we, are we off? Like, no, no, no, let's, let's rejuvenate the body and so we can, we can sleep less, feel better and have even more energy tomorrow. All right, let's do it then. You know what we're going to do? We're taking off early. All right, let's do it, Joe. Let's get to it. [00:06:11] That's the conversations that the factory workers in my body have during the night when I'm fasting. So when I don't have dinner, my dudes are like, it's a short shift tonight. They don't got much to do. They rejuvenate my cells, they, they replenish my energy stores from the day they get me ready for tomorrow. I think better, I dream more fun. I had such fun dreams last night and it's all thanks to skipping dinner on Thursday. Actually, yesterday I skipped more than dinner. I don't think, I don't think I had lunch either. [00:06:44] And remember, I'm having like smoothies and drinks and lots of water and lots of tea. So, you know, I'm not fully going all out on this, but I think I've toned down some. Well, there is another part of fasting which is. Have you mentioned the doctor yet? The fasting where you do multiple days and that's when it really gets fun. Between, like ideas get even more clear. Like your sight and your hearing and your taste and your smell and all your senses are just like on 110. It is amazing. I'm like, where's that tree? Always so green. You know, was that sky always so blue? Did the grass. Oh, did this, the grass get cut somewhere, like within a mile? Because I can smell it. It's fresh. [00:07:26] It's amazing. [00:07:29] So there's my dream, a fasting retreat. And then I like to joke about the menu items, like the catering. So tonight we're gonna have a choice between bubbly water and still water. [00:07:43] Maybe you could have some green tea for dessert. [00:07:46] Yeah, it would only, only fasting people would understand that. Comedy. We could have some stand up comedy. It's all about fasting. Okay, I gotta stop. It's clearly 5:30. I don't. No one is awake like, I don't think. No one's. No one's awake in my town. [00:08:01] Pepper's not even awake. Pepper is snoozing to be losing over there. You snooze, you lose. [00:08:08] Okay, clearly I have way too much energy at this time. [00:08:11] If you do not have as much energy as I do, with the recommendation of your doctor, who I mentioned I'm not a doctor. Then I can highly recommend intermittent fasting for consistent energy, clear ideas, less sleep, and unexpected magic. [00:08:31] Signing out on Friday morning. See you later. Bye for now.
