[00:00:01] It's go time. [00:00:02] Time to go. Time to get going. [00:00:05] What if that also entails letting go? [00:00:10] I'm Bradley Charbonneau. That's Pepper, my trusty partner. And today is Thursday Thunder. What does that mean? That means every single week I record a video. What does that mean? That means it's go time. It's time to go. It's time to do it. [00:00:26] My word for 2027 is go. G, E, A, U. I'll explain that later. But for now, know that part of going forward possibly means leaving some things behind. [00:00:40] I just. Last night. [00:00:43] What's the right word? Quit. Kind of a big word. Left. [00:00:48] Decided to part ways with a. [00:00:53] It's not a secret. With a Toastmasters group I was a part of. It was an advanced speaking group in Europe. We had members in. We have members in France and Belgium and Netherlands and a variety of other handful of countries. And I really enjoyed the concept. I have to say, really good people concept really worked well. We had a different format. We were. [00:01:17] Part of. The rule was not necessarily adhering to the Toastmasters rules, because if you're familiar with Toastmasters, you'll know there's a lot of rules. It's very. I find it very bureaucratic and sort of old school with all kinds of forms and serious administration. [00:01:35] But that wasn't the problem. The problem for me was mostly that it was online and it was online only. [00:01:44] And the benefit was, as previously mentioned, the variety of people from around different countries in Europe. Right. Super cool. Right? [00:01:52] The online thing was tough, though. It's only online. It is what it is. It has its benefits. And the fact that I could just be in my. In my office and don't have to go anywhere. That's nice. But what I'm looking for these days is personal connection. But today, this morning, on this fine day in Zeist, I want to talk about letting go and how letting go is. I almost want to say a requirement for going forward. Right. If my word for 2027 is go, that means do make, create, move forward, do it, get it done. Right. Go. Go time. Go time, spelled G, E, A U. Because that is the name of my gut. [00:02:39] 2027 is listening to my gut, not necessarily my mind. Martijn and his analytical administrative self. [00:02:48] A little bit listening to Henri, my heart. H heart, who is all about the love. [00:02:57] But it's time to listen to my gut. What do I feel right? What do I intuit? What do. What does my intuition say? [00:03:05] What do I feel that I should do? [00:03:08] That's my plan. For 2027. And so yesterday, and I kind of said this to the group. I said, my gut isn't in it. [00:03:18] My mind is in it. Because I like the group. And it makes sense for me to be in an advanced speaker group and practice the speaking and get the evaluations. The evaluations were excellent. They had one format where they had three different evaluators for one talk, which is really cool. You got three different perspectives on your one talk. Right. Or presentation. Pretty cool, right? [00:03:41] So that wasn't the problem. [00:03:44] And yet it was time to let go. [00:03:48] So I let go to make room for something else, if you must know. If you ask. Oh, I'm sorry. A hand there in the back. You in the blue shirt. Yes. What will I do to replace that? Well, that's a good question. Glad you asked. [00:04:05] I seriously am looking at two things right now. Two different organizations that I've been. I've been toying with joining. One is. Well, I'm already a part of it. It's the Speaker Lab, used to be run by Grant Baldwin. And there's a new guy running the show. I'm sorry, I'm gonna forget his name. [00:04:21] And it's very good. It's really about the business speaking. [00:04:28] And honestly, this talk wasn't right this morning. Wasn't supposed to be about this, but. [00:04:34] Well, it is. It is, because I was saying letting go of something. So I'm letting go of a Toastmasters group, which is making room for another group and that I think it could be the Speaker Lab. [00:04:50] And there's another group called. I think it's called the MC Directory. Like E M C E E. The MC Directory. I think that's what it's called. And I. Obviously, I haven't really joined because I barely know what it's called, but it's all about the role of emceeing or hosting. Right. Being the master of ceremonies. [00:05:12] I am proud to say I will be the emcee of a few different events in Las Vegas at the upcoming Author Nation Conference, the largest writers conference in the world in November in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the US Where I will be going next week. [00:05:30] And the MC role is something I've been wanting to do more of. I've been doing it quite a bit. I. I've hosted quite a bit at quite a few conferences and events. And I really like it because I get to use my. My skills as, wow, thorny pathway here. [00:05:49] My skills of improv. Right. And my lack of fear of pretty much any stage environment. [00:05:58] And that really works its wonders. Up on stage when you're not worried anymore about screwing up or whatever. Right. So I enjoy that. I like work in the crowd. I like talking to the people I like. I like it. All right, so the reason I'm saying that is. Ow. Ow. [00:06:16] One could say, Bradley, you gave up, you quit, you abandoned something. [00:06:24] Yeah, I did, I did. And what I'm also here to say is that's okay. [00:06:29] And do I need to fill that gap? No, no. I've got plenty to do. [00:06:36] I don't need to fill any gap. [00:06:39] So I'm here to allow you to just say no. [00:06:45] Just say go. Just say let go. [00:06:48] Let go of something that will make room for something else. [00:06:53] Where is it that your gut might not be fully connected? Maybe your heart is a little bit in it and your mind says it's the right thing to do. [00:07:02] Actually, Martin would say it's right. No, no, no, he says it's the right thing to do. It's the right thing to do. Cuz Martine is a little German, a little Dutch. Bradley, what are you thinking? It makes sense. Do the, do the thing. Do the toastmaster. [00:07:17] No, no, no, bro. No, I'm not going to do it. [00:07:21] So I'm sorry. [00:07:23] Sorry, not sorry. Yeah. So that's it. And, and are there hard feelings? No, I hope not. I mean, I gave a bit of a goodbye, we had a chat and I feel good about it and it was cordial and I'm happy I joined the group and it's okay that it didn't work out. I also, I just created a short few minutes ago that talking about how it's okay for something that you might consider. Oh, that's a failure. Oh, you didn't succeed. Oh, you didn't follow through. Oh, oh, you gave up, you surrendered. [00:07:59] Yeah, yeah, I did all those things. Uh huh. And what is that gonna do though? Can I, am I gonna sit in the corner and cry and pout and moan? No. [00:08:08] Am I going to fill it immediately with something else? No, not necessarily. [00:08:14] So it's okay to let it go? Let a little space open up in your world and let it, Let it be. [00:08:21] Let it be. [00:08:24] I'm going to say let it go because it's go time. There are several aspects of go, right? G, E, A, U. Oh, by the way, if you're, if you're new to the program, why I keep saying G E A U? Because his name, my gut's name, I name my mind, heart and gut. I have a full on program about this if you'd like to know. And I want you also to name your mind, name your heart, and name your gut. [00:08:50] Give them names so that you can sort of associate with the Persona that is your mind, that is your heart, that is your gut. And that's when my mind is Martijn. M A R T I, J, N. My heart is Henri. Very French. H E, N, R I. [00:09:11] And my gut is go. G, E, A, U. He wanted to spell it G, O. [00:09:17] But Henri, the French heart, he's like. That's a little too, like, pedestrian and common, even though you're like a California surfer dude. So I'm. I want you to spell it. G, E, A, U. Bring. Bring up the class a little bit. Be a little bit more highfalutin. There. Go time. [00:09:31] All right, that's it. [00:09:33] I gotta go. [00:09:35] Look at this. Is this gorgeous green moss. It's a gorgeous fall day here in Zeist, if you're wondering. Bradley, didn't you move, like, three weeks ago? I did move. I'm just back here. I have to run an errand. I actually have to get. Speaking of letting go. Of letting go of my old car, my old Peugeot we've had for 10 years. It's going bye bye today, so bye bye. Let it go and I'll see you next week. Bye for now.
