[00:00:00] Are you someone who does the same path every single day, same thing over and over, walks with the same dog on the same path every single day?
[00:00:14] So have you become an expert in this path? Is this your path? And is this what you're known for? Is this your thing when you're called up, when you're hired to talk about your thing? Is. Is this it? Is this what you talk about? And because you're the expert, you know it and you do it and you do it so well. Is. Is that how it works?
[00:00:35] I had a great interview yesterday with Julie Broad of Book Launchers, and it's. It's not, it's not live yet. I'll make it live in a. In a few weeks. But she was saying, how so? She's the founder of Book Launchers and. Which is a fantastic company that helps nonfiction book authors and Where's Pepper?
[00:00:57] And she was talking about how she helps also in. In other functions. She helps hire authors. I'm sorry, speakers. And what I thought was really cool was that she said, well, for the paid speakers, we want the ones who have a track record, who are going to be giving a talk that they've done many times so that we can rely on it. We know it's going to be good. We know they're going to be good. We know they've done it many times, and so they're experienced at it. It's their talk. It's their signature talk. This is what they're good at. And we have a security and safety that we know it's going to work.
[00:01:43] And I thought this was really interesting because for me, I'm so much about, what's your latest thing? What's your new thing? What's your new topic? What are you talking about this week, Bradley? And it may be because I do a video every week and I think, oh, well, I need something new this week.
[00:02:00] And I do, of course, right. I do need something new this week.
[00:02:05] But then what about the conference that hires you?
[00:02:11] They don't need your latest, greatest thing. They don't know anything about you or what you've said previously or what you'll say in the future. Right. They don't know what your talk is about.
[00:02:21] So all they want is the security of knowing that you're the expert in your thing and they want you to do a great job and that you've probably. And ideally that you've done a great job before and you'll do it again, so they're sure about it, which I think was really interesting. And A little bit difficult for me to comprehend because I'm always about that new thing. I want to do the new thing. Even though I walk, you know, the same woods with Pepper every single day for the past 10 years, I find here, I find a new path, right? I don't go down the same path every time because that's. I don't know, I'm a curious guy. I like new stuff.
[00:03:09] And you could call me a squirrel and say, like, squirrel, squirrel, squirrel, squirrel, right? Like I.
[00:03:17] I need something new all the time, which I do. I like new stuff. I mean, we all like new stuff.
[00:03:24] But then I'm just. I'm saying this again because I'm trying to get it through my thick head, but it's the.
[00:03:33] I get it.
[00:03:35] I get it. And it was really neat to hear it from Julie's perspective, to hear what a conference organizer is really looking for and the fact that they want that same old, same old from you because. And this is a news flash because it's not going to be same old, same old for that audience.
[00:03:57] So if you think about it, I mean, think about a Broadway theater show or.
[00:04:02] Or even a movie, right? The movie theater.
[00:04:06] It's not, you know, the five o' clock show and the seven o' clock show.
[00:04:10] It's not the same audience, right? A new crowd comes in at 7 o' clock and it's the same movie again. I mean, a movie, sort of a. Maybe a silly example. But on the other hand, it's not.
[00:04:25] It's not a new movie every single time, right?
[00:04:28] It's the same movie again and again.
[00:04:31] And I just, I. I struggle to get this into my head because I want a new movie every day because maybe because I'm the creator.
[00:04:41] So I want to create a new movie every day.
[00:04:44] But maybe that's just for me. Maybe that's just what I want.
[00:04:49] I want another new movie, whereas.
[00:04:52] I get it. I get it. You can. If you hear me repeating it's because I'm. I'm trying to convince myself that this is what I need to do. And I know it's what I need to do. I know deep down it's what I need to do.
[00:05:06] And yet I still struggle to think that that's the right thing to do.
[00:05:13] Right?
[00:05:14] Because where's the pepper?
[00:05:17] Because.
[00:05:20] Yeah. Of all that.
[00:05:22] What do you think? What do you do?
[00:05:25] You know, another thing Julie said, and I'm really looking forward to publishing the interview. Just a search on my channel for Julie Broad or book launchers, right?
[00:05:34] And another thing she Said, which I thought was really cool and also just so different from how I think and how I work, is the idea of publishing a book, especially a nonfiction book, right? And, like, that's your thing for the coming. She said, like, three to five years.
[00:05:57] I'm like, what?
[00:05:59] There was a time during COVID I published almost a book a month.
[00:06:04] And, you know, were they top sellers? No.
[00:06:08] Did I jump right to the next one after I finished the last one? Yes.
[00:06:13] Was that a good idea? It was at the time.
[00:06:16] Did I have fun doing it? Oh, yeah.
[00:06:19] Did I reach, you know, a sustained audience?
[00:06:23] No.
[00:06:25] What if I had one book?
[00:06:27] It's 2026. What if I had one book and I focused only on that for the coming three to five years? I mean, first of all, it's hard for me to even understand, but what if I did that? Right? And for me, right now, if you. If you ask me, what is that book, it's a year of you or the year of you.
[00:06:48] And that's my thing right now. And that's what I would focus on. So if. All right, let me put the question out there. If you had a topic. What if. Let's talk in book titles, because I don't want a big paragraph. What if there's a book title like your book title for the coming three to five years? I even have a hard time saying it. Three to five years.
[00:07:10] And that's your thing for the coming time.
[00:07:13] What would that book title be? For me, it's the year of you.
[00:07:17] And that's what I say today. I mean, maybe next week I have another idea which is part of, like, the beauty of my creativity and the folly of my creativity, because I have a new idea every day, and maybe now I see why. Okay, that's why. That's why I don't have a keynote speech, because I have a new keynote speech every week, and they don't want that. They want the thing you've done 47 times and you're the expert at and that that's what they want.
[00:07:48] And I think, having heard it so clearly from Julie Broad yesterday, this really hit it home for me or brought it home or thumped it into my thick head as to why this works and why it's important and why I frankly, need to do it.
[00:08:06] So there you have it. And what's it gonna be for me? If you know my repossible brand, if you know my channel, my podcast, my books?
[00:08:13] What book do you think I should focus on for the coming three to five years?
[00:08:18] Or book or idea or topic. Or give me a book title. Give me a book title. Give me a book title you'd like to hear from me.
[00:08:26] And then if you have one, and I think we all do, then give me. Give me yours too. Right? I'd love to hear it. So I'd love to hear your book title. If you had to choose something for you that you're going to work on for the coming three to five years and you're going to maybe have. That's what your keynote speech is about. That's your course and your program and your everything.
[00:08:50] And it's 2026, so, wow. Think about this. This is like, difficult for me, but till 2030, this is your thing. And this is. If you're going to get a keynote speech call, this is what you're going to say. What's your topic? The year of you.
[00:09:05] Oh, what's that about? Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Right. Becoming the next version of yourself. Right. Who will you be next? Right. I can say it because I've been doing it for years. I just haven't branded myself. Hello.
[00:09:17] Branded myself as that guy.
[00:09:19] So there you have it.
[00:09:23] Okay, I'd love to hear back from you on what your thing is for the coming three to five years, minus a year of you, because I've said it 14 times now, so clearly. That's the thing I'm. I'm gonna do. All right, I'm signing out from pepper to Pepperdish Neps here. Who's enjoying our little walk. A little overcast today, but can you hear the birds if I stop talking?
[00:09:49] All right, I'll leave you with that and a little bit of pepper.
[00:09:52] All right? Make it a great week because I'm gonna go create something new. No, no, no. The same thing. Same thing. The year of you. I swear.
