[00:00:00] Hey, good morning. [00:00:02] It's early. [00:00:04] I'm gonna do something a little different this morning. It's. It's early. And I'm gonna give a recap of my Elizabeth Gilbert weekend just happened. And I'm gonna actually share my notes now. I'm doing this for a few reasons. One is because I often find at these things, at these events that you leave and then, you know, a week later, like, yeah, that was great. And then a month later you're like, what did I learn? [00:00:28] So I'm partly doing this for me, partly for you to see behind the scenes here what I learned and what's going on. So I'm just going to walk through my notes here. [00:00:40] Remember, I am a speaker and workshop leader. So I'm seeing a lot of this. [00:00:50] In the sphere of I'm an author, I'm a. I'm an author, I'm a speaker, and how can I improve my speaking and author and writing business? Right? So here we go. So like for example, here, what do we got? We got. [00:01:08] Yeah, I'm just going to read some. This is day one. I'm going to go through my notes from yesterday. I prefer to make decisions from curiosity over fear. [00:01:17] So another thing, as an author, she, as a speaker, she's been doing this for 10 years, right? [00:01:27] And I need to remember that I've been doing, you know, my talks for whatever, maybe, maybe I don't think I've done them 10 times. [00:01:35] So it's something to learn from that. She's been doing the same thing for 10 years. I mean, among other things. But this one thing. So that's really important for me to thank Bradley. [00:01:47] Focus on one thing or, you know, do the, do the thing over and over again. Right. [00:01:51] So what else we got here? Fear. It's a lot about fear in the beginning. [00:01:56] If we don't do anything, we can better. We can better avoid death. Wants to keep you alive. Okay, so wait patiently and surrender. That was sort of my title. So this is like this drawing that we did in the beginning that looks like, for me, it looks like a centaur. [00:02:13] Now those are my two arms that are totally discombobulated. And then like I called it Centaur because it looks like a horse. It's like a horse person. [00:02:22] And then I say, so you have to write with your not strong hand. I need to. What do you need to do? I need to give. [00:02:30] I think I knew that, but I need to give. So centaur is this discombobulated arms in the wrong places. Looks part, part, part horse Part man, that's me. I like it because it's like I don't. I don't really associate with horses. I don't really think of them. I don't. [00:02:50] I bet they're very strong and I kind of like that. And then the title there is wait patiently and Surrender. So that's sort of the idea of I'm creating, but I'm just doing and going. So you, in the beginning, you write a letter to yourself. [00:03:07] Well, you write it to your spirit self. And so here, this one is to Centaur. And you say what you're afraid of. I am your fear. And this is what I want to tell you. [00:03:17] I am afraid that all these things. [00:03:21] So here if I pick a couple. [00:03:24] So I think the most interesting. [00:03:31] Okay. Afraid you will never be organized. So this is part of my. One of my philosophies of using words like someday and never and always and every single day sort of time related this pepper, by the way. [00:03:44] And I will never be organized like my house, it'll. Or by my life. It'll just never be organized. That's okay. You'll miss your mom and dad forever and that's okay. Yeah. Cool, right? [00:03:56] What else we got? You will never believe you're enough. Yeah. So get over it. [00:04:01] You'll be seeking forever. Yeah, I think I will have been seeking my whole life. And. And if I am okay with that, then I'm okay with that. Right. My curiosity will never die. I get a lot of nevers and always and some days. Right. You'll never achieve all of your lofty dreams. So if you sort of admit this to yourself, then, I don't know, it makes it lighter. Right. [00:04:23] You'll be disappointed about the dream fear. [00:04:30] Actually, I understand that one. Okay. And then later you had to circle. Well, I'd have to go back, but later you have to circle stuff. So here you. You circle your fear. You circle sort of your most important one. Right? So here. You won't believe me. [00:04:47] You won't believe me. So fear, dear Centaur, dear my spirit self on half of this stuff. Because you're not really afraid of much. [00:04:55] So we'll get into that later. But I think I'm not afraid of much. I'm moving to Italy. I'm going to start singing. I've gotten over sort of the fear part of things. Right. [00:05:07] Okay, so next up is Enchantment. And what I really like about these is like, I like to see how does this play in with stuff I've done work I've done and work that I offer. So I have, like, math and magic, right? And so Elizabeth Gilbert has fear and Enchantment. Super cool, by the way. You know, I am such a fan of this in person. There's no way. If this were a zoom call or like a do it yourself. No way. No way would this have worked. This is just. We're in person. You're talking to your neighbors. It's fantastic. Right? [00:05:41] So now enchantment. So this is like the magic. So I love. [00:05:44] Right. What do I love here? I'll find some highlights. So come on, Pips. [00:05:50] Okay. Here. So later on we circle. So I'll just give you the highlights. Like, I love that you want to learn to sing without needing to be especially good. So this is a big one, right? So the next thing for me is I want to learn how to sing or music of some kind. And. And I know I'm terrible, and I. That's okay. And with writing back pre 2012, before I started writing every day, I also. [00:06:17] I didn't know. I thought it was actually pretty good, but I didn't dare do it because I was scared of judge judgment of others, which we'll get. I'll also get into. So here, my dear centaur. That was my name. [00:06:30] I love. [00:06:31] Right. I love that you want to learn to sing without needing to be especially good. So this is. This is powerful. This is maybe one of my biggest takeaways. All right, I got Pepper here's coming to hang out with us. [00:06:45] Okay. I hope you like my behind the scenes here. I feel. I mean, speaking of not being afraid anymore, like, seriously, I'm sharing my very personal journal with you. But remember, I'm also doing this for myself. And I can highly recommend this. This is sort of reinforcement, right? This is the power of going over something again and then I'm actually recording it. And I'm such a wacko that I'm going to put this on my YouTube channel. [00:07:10] But also I'll put this through chat GPT and say, give me a summary. Right? [00:07:16] So, all right, what else we got? The love that you usually share by helping other than help yourself. Okay. I love that you're moving to Italy. [00:07:24] Adventure. [00:07:27] Yeah. Saskia's gonna love it. [00:07:30] Here we go. All right, Pepper. All right. Here we go. Pepper, that's for you. I love that. I love walking in the woods with Pepper. [00:07:38] Okay, so here, this one, I think, is a sort of my core message here. Right. [00:07:42] I love that the tiniest things give you the greatest joy and pleasure and meaning. [00:07:50] It's true. And I think this is one of my secrets to happiness here. [00:07:54] I love that you're allowing yourself to create and keep creating and hopefully keep creating until you no longer want to. Yep. [00:08:02] Yeah. I love that you're creating for creating sake. It's all about creating. Right. [00:08:06] Taking better care of your body. Yeah, I am. I really am. I've. Since the new year, I've been going to gym, eating much better, working out, feeling a lot better. Right. [00:08:16] All right, let me move on. [00:08:20] Okay. This. I think this was the core message of the weekend. This was so powerful. And several people mentioned this. [00:08:27] So good. So here, people don't need you to worry about them. They need you to believe in them. [00:08:36] That was amazing. That was. I mean, I heard that over and over during the weekend from other people, from Elizabeth Gilbert, just. [00:08:43] Wow. [00:08:45] And she talked a lot about worrying. What do we. We worry about these people. We worry about other people. And so that was super cool. And then here, this is the statement. I have complete faith in your soul's journey. [00:09:01] So that's what you wanted to say to others, but also what you wanted to say to yourself. [00:09:06] And if you can say that with a straight face and believe yourself. Pretty cool, right? Okay. So then she went into this entire thing about. From the office of the principal. And if you're lives in the US or a school system or similar, where they call it the principal or the headmaster or whatever, the president, I don't know, the office of the principal can give you like a permission slip. So what do you have permission to do? So I have permission to learn how to sing, to create, for no other reason to create. So clearly I've created this on the mind. Right. [00:09:38] To help, want to help, continue to help anyone wanting or asking for it or not. So, like, don't help them if they don't want it. [00:09:48] Okay, here, this was a really fun one. And so this star, I think the star is from my neighbor. [00:09:55] So to do completely irrational things, such as drive to Germany for English muffins only to have the pleasure of that one bite of the toasted muffin with the butter and the Trader Joe's peanut butter. [00:10:07] So I want to keep doing sort of weird things like that because they're weird and. And they give me joy and pleasure. Right. [00:10:15] Okay. Worry versus love. [00:10:18] Yeah. Go to bed at 8:00pm, skip dinner, because it just feels so good like once a week. So this is one of those things. So she also talked about, you know, what is. [00:10:29] What do other people judge you on, or you think they're gonna judge you on, right. And that was actually a killer, Right. What do other people think? [00:10:40] What do you think they will judge you about? [00:10:43] And then it stops you from doing it. Right? Like, I love. I'm a total dork. I love to go to bed at really early. Like if my wife's out, right. I will go to bed super early. I will skip dinner and I will wake up early and meditate and create. It's like one of my favorite things to do. But I'm a dork, right? And it's not very social. People don't like it. It's not really fun at parties. [00:11:06] But I want to keep doing it. Here, the circled one is to join a healing meditation group or small meditation group. I really miss this. I was in a small group of like eight people for a while, like maybe two years. And I really miss it. I really miss that group meditation. And I'd like to get that back in my life. Maybe that'll come back in Italy. [00:11:26] One spiritual retreat per year. [00:11:29] Not create. Not create products or services to sell. Because I think I'm supposed to. That's kind of a. A dig there. That's a little bit like, oh, ouch, that hurts to buy as many gilets. I don't know, the vest, like vest or my British friend says waistcoat. [00:11:46] Here we go. To spend. Okay, here. This one's sort of a work one too, right? To spend hours recording and editing and producing a video audio stories. This is something I really want to do and I don't know if I should. I don't know, you know, is it going to make me money? [00:12:01] I don't know. But I just really want to do it. I really want to make it really good. Right? [00:12:05] Okay. So then your neighbor. So I was the only thing I. I hid here. I just hid her name. But look at that handwriting too. Isn't that just gorgeous? I mean, look at mine. I'm a disaster. And she's like this. I thought, wow, what did you print that? [00:12:19] So this was also another really powerful part of the weekend. So my neighbor, who I've known for 11 minutes, writes me this just full hearted vote of confidence, right? [00:12:35] And somewhere does she. [00:12:40] Because life is so short. [00:12:43] Yeah. So it was amazing. And this is after 11 minutes. So the point was kind of if you can write your neighbor who is basically a stranger and be so excited for her and, and thrilled and confident and believe in her after 11 minutes, why can you not be that for yourself? Why can't you be your own cheerleader? Why can't you believe in your own self. That was a lot of the weekend too. That was really kind of amazing. [00:13:10] What else we got here? Okay, so this is. Oh, this is the principle. Like love the principle. Right. And so you, you're going to give yourself permission to do stuff. So what did I say here? [00:13:22] Remember? [00:13:24] Yeah. Remember when you spent eight years dreaming about becoming a writer but didn't actually, you know, write? [00:13:31] What do you say we chop that timeline down exponentially? What about Italy? What about singing? [00:13:40] Did you hear Liz today? Talk about I can't even read my own writing. [00:13:46] Oh yeah, singing together. [00:13:48] Right? And something used to do. Yeah, the old cultures used to do. Sing together. [00:13:55] Synchronicity, frequency. Right? Like Saskia is in a choir and loves it every single time. [00:14:01] How enriching it is. So I don't know, should I join a choir? [00:14:06] I. I totally believe this stuff. Totally get it. [00:14:10] I don't need to write more. It's time to let. Oh wow, look at this. I don't need to write more. It's time to let that other voice be heard. It's time to sing. Oh my God. Okay, I'm saying this to myself, right? I mean this is like from the principal who's allowing me, giving me permission to do this stuff. [00:14:29] All right, what else we got here? Day two, over here. Wow, that was all day one. Notes. [00:14:34] All right, Day two, yesterday. Create creativity is mysticism. Interesting. She really goes into creativity. She also does talk about creating and creativity and, and they're different. In which I was. I appreciated. [00:14:50] What are these? This notes here. Walking through the woods on a break. [00:14:53] Meditation. Oh yeah. Oh, that's right. We had to talk about an animal. See, I'm glad I'm reviewing my notes. I again, I highly recommend reviewing your notes doing something like this. Do a recap, do a record and remember if you're pro AI or not. But I'm going to give this to my chat GPT and say, hey, examine my transcript here. What did I get from this weekend? What are some highlights? Right? [00:15:18] This was the time I did a 10 day silent meditation retreat and I met a deer in the woods and we had a moment. [00:15:26] Don't remember the content. Yeah, the content of what was communicated also. Here we go. I also thought we were supposed to meet, talk about a dog or talk about your. [00:15:34] An animal encounter. Well, basically I want. I said, or I can talk about pepper and the joy of this every single day. [00:15:42] So here's the message from that deer. [00:15:45] And it was either run around searching or wait patiently and surrender or open right that's pretty good. [00:15:55] And this is something I remember from safari. You can run around and look for the animals or you can just shut up and let them appear. [00:16:03] All right, what do we got? Message from past self and future self. Oh, yeah. Same as what I just said. Safari wait patiently. [00:16:11] Better. The deeper your connection with source or higher level. The higher the frequency, the stronger the gift. Okay. [00:16:19] Other spirits project. I want to give you frequency. [00:16:26] Okay. [00:16:28] Oh, yeah. So we did a meditation, Right? I almost forgot. We did a meditation and I got an object and it was a prism, like with an M, like Mary prism, which is. Okay, I don't even know how to explain. It's like a pyramid shape of glass. And if. If light, like over here, like light comes in upper right and then it goes out different ways. So I kind of thought, continue with the same input. Like, what's the same input I could continue to have and then create different outputs from that same input. [00:17:04] Okay, so then we get some questions. How can I make this easier? How can we make this easier? [00:17:09] How did we get through that? [00:17:11] So you ask your future self, hey, how did we get through that? [00:17:16] What else we got? Question 3. What if I don't? [00:17:19] What? What don't I know yet about myself? [00:17:24] Question 4. What do you see in me? How can I show my life to you in my life? What do I need to do now to become you? [00:17:36] Okay, so these are some questions. There's a future self and a past self, right? [00:17:41] So again, these circles, this was later, like the end of the Sunday. [00:17:46] And you highlighted stuff that you thought was the best. What you think you want is not what you need. [00:17:56] All of therapy or her therapy that she talked about has the same methodologies. How to take better care of yourself. [00:18:05] And then I thought, yeah, year of you and one word book, right? [00:18:11] So these are things that I'm trying to apply to my own world, my own projects from her perspective, right? So how to take basically how to take better care of yourself. Well, the year of you is all about taking better care of yourself. [00:18:25] What's everybody going to say is what blocks most people? [00:18:29] So now my solution here is the worst book ever, right? [00:18:33] Forget about people ever reading it. You're getting ahead of yourself. Is another people reason. [00:18:39] Reason people don't create. Oh, what about the publisher? Oh, how am I going to format this? Oh, this and that, right? Whereas just do it. This is so I could think of worst book ever would be the solution of that. Right now we just need you to create a. I just need you in the creative Process, Right. [00:18:55] Okay, so here's like some nutshell moments. I think it's towards the end of the day, yesterday, last day. Don't stop creating. Don't stop where I'm going. And my methods, ideas, stories to help other people create. Then I kind of went through some of my sort of philosophies or mantras or almost frameworks. Right? Like kairos and Kronos, Villain, hero guide. Create A to B to C. [00:19:17] Who will you be next? Find your frequency. Like, find your time of day. [00:19:21] Someday, never, always. [00:19:23] Yeah, this was good. So it also gave me, you know, what are my frameworks? What are my systems? Remember, I'm at this workshop thinking very much about my workshops and how I can do it right here. One air. One hour coaching in creator, YouTube or writing. 150 bucks, right? [00:19:48] Yes. To sub stack. Yeah, she's into substack and I keep hearing this, right? Sub stack, Substack. Substance. [00:19:58] You are the one you have. That's cool. You are the one you have been waiting for. Wow, that was good. [00:20:04] My only job is to get everybody calm enough so they can see what they already know. [00:20:15] Wow, that was good. [00:20:17] You already know. We just need to get fear out of the way. Yep. Okay, so here's sort of a summary thing. 10 things I went through, my notes. 10 things you're not number one for me. You're not really afraid of much, which is true. I'm really not. I used to be afraid of more. I'm definitely not as afraid anymore of stuff like writing or publishing or YouTube or camera or video or recording. [00:20:39] Private moments from my journal. Here from my Elizabeth Gilbert weekend to show you know what I did, what I learned, and hopefully give you some tips about my weekend. But also tips about how to take away your what you learned. How to turn the information into knowledge or wisdom. [00:21:02] Creating makes me happy. I will learn to sing without the need to be good. [00:21:07] Join a small meditation healing group. Spend hours making a select few videos. Amazing. [00:21:14] People don't need to worry about. [00:21:16] Don't need you to worry about them. They need you to believe in them. [00:21:21] What you think you want is not what you need. [00:21:24] All of her therapies. How to take better care of yourself. [00:21:28] What blocks most people is what people are going to say. [00:21:33] My only job is to get people calm enough so they can see what they already know. Super cool, right? [00:21:41] Okay. And then. Then you got it down to five. [00:21:45] You're not really afraid of much. It blocks most people worrying about other people are gonna think. Get everybody calm. They already know Learn to think. [00:21:54] Creating makes me happy. I think that's it. [00:21:59] That's it. [00:22:01] So there you go. There's my highlight. I didn't even get. I didn't even need five. [00:22:04] Like four is good. So what are they? What are they really here, right? [00:22:08] You're not really afraid of much. So that's me. And I think this is somewhere where I can really help others. [00:22:14] Because I'm not afraid anymore. And I used to be afraid. I used to be very afraid. I asked me about my fourth grade, first day of school, and now I'm just not afraid of any of much of anything anymore. Right. Well, I'm afraid of certain things, but. But not, not, not the things that I used to be afraid of. [00:22:30] That's number one. So that's good. So that means I'm daring. That also means I can help people with their fears. I think that's one of my big superpowers. [00:22:38] Number two, what blocks most people is worrying about what other people are going to think. Well, this is again, a superpower of mine with programs like One Word Book or the Year of youf or Worst book ever. You know, yesterday really had me thinking about Worst book ever again and how fun it was and how awesome that could be. [00:22:57] And here we go. [00:22:59] So this, she kept saying this. And this is, I think, a true leader. A true, like, guru. I'm sure she just want to be called a guru. [00:23:06] This is. If they're good, then they will say this. [00:23:11] My only job is to get everybody calm enough so they can see what they already know. [00:23:17] That's pretty amazing, right? [00:23:19] And then learn to sing. [00:23:21] So this is my next big thing, right? This is the one thing I'm quote unquote scared of. Except that I'm not really scared of it. I just will do it. I don't say I need to do it. I will do it. I will do it. I don't know. I don't even know where to start. Like, do I need a singing teacher? Do I need to watch YouTube videos? I don't know. [00:23:37] Creating makes me happy. That is the bottom line for me. Creating makes me happy. I believe that creating will make other people happy. I don't know. I think we're all different. [00:23:48] But I could give it a shot. And if you want to create, then I can help you. So again, yesterday, a lot of yesterday was about how I can take my business and apply what I learned from the weekend and help other. Help others. Right. She also talks a lot about being a people pleaser and how that just didn't really work out. [00:24:09] I totally get it. Right. [00:24:12] Here, let me here. Kairos Kronos. Which one of these stands out for you? If you know them. If you know my work a little bit, then Kairos and Kronos. And that's very much like magic and method. [00:24:26] Villain Hero Guide. That's very much from Hero's Journey. Also Story brand and Donald Miller Vill. Villain Hero journeys out of my own little flavor of it. Create that says doing, doing, doing. Make, make, make. [00:24:40] A to B to C. This is like you need to get to B before you can see the letter C. [00:24:45] Who will you be next? It's been my tagline for years. I'm sticking with it. Find your frequency. When is your best time of day? When are you the most creative? Or when are you administrative? Or when do you. Would you rather listen? When would you rather talk? And then someday. Never. Always is. Are there things in here that you know from my work that you. That you're missing and substack. So I should do some sub stack, I guess. Okay. I. I'm curious about what you think of this. About my walking through my notes here and if this was helpful or. And yesterday I did day one. You can. I'll put a link down below to where that is and yeah, let me know what you think of my. Where's Pepper? [00:25:30] Bever's hanging out. Pepper's recording videos with me. We're just not outside yet, so. Okay. Let me know what you think of that. This was my recap of day two. [00:25:39] Well, it's actually recap of the whole weekend of Elizabeth Gilbert's weekend workshop, which I absolutely loved. [00:25:46] And it was in person in Amsterdam. And there is just no substitute for in person. There's no way I would have gotten out of this what I got out of it if it were a zoom call or a do it yourself video or whatever. Or even the fanciest of video and zoom and cameras and microphones. [00:26:05] Nope. I'm sitting next to people all weekend and she did a lot with, you know, work with your neighbor. And that was fantastic. And really that, as usual, that was the highlight because that's where the good stuff comes out. When you've got. I've had. I had to read some of this stuff to my neighbor.
