[00:00:01] Hey, good morning, little Thursday thunder. Here it is Thursday, August 7th, and I have such a busy week. That's why I've got 10 minutes for a little Thursday thunder here and something totally different this morning. It's early, of course.
[00:00:13] Hey, good morning. It's early. It is early. And I've got to get out of here in an hour. I've got to finish this thing in 10 minutes. And what am I going to do? I'm going to do a speech map template for a speech I'm working on. I am currently attending Mind Valley University this week in Amsterdam. It is fantastic. Here is our.
[00:00:32] Our speech map template I'm doing. There's a three day intensive with Eric.
[00:00:39] Is it Egg Ed Mes? I got to get his name right. Eric. Ed. I think it's Ed Meedes. E D M E A D E S. He's a teacher at Mindvalley. He's also a fantastic speaker. Not only that, he's a fantastic speaker trainer. I am just like fan boiling it. Fan boiling it. I'm fanboying it left and right. Love it. So what he's doing is also hard for me because he wants structure. What a surprise. So here I'm. What I want to do this morning is I want to spend the next like eight minutes and show you kind of what, what we're working on. And it's over here on the right, the speech map template. And what he wants to do, he wants to get it like very dry, so to speak, very structured. And our homework assignment yesterday was to like pitch our talk without getting into the talk. Okay. So over here on the right, you'll see with the FF, call it the F15. And that's like the takeoff, right?
[00:01:41] He says you use an F15, apparently uses like half its fuel to take off and then it used the rest of its fuel to keep going. So we want a big takeoff. And he. And here in the beginning we have the.
[00:02:00] There are three things. There was the intro, like maybe like to yourself.
[00:02:07] And then there was the icebreaker, like a joke or something. And then there was big. I think it was called Big Fat Claim.
[00:02:16] Yeah, big fat claim. There we go in an icebreaker. Okay, so I've got that. I'm just going to quickly put this in here. Then I've got my topic.
[00:02:23] Then I've got 3.1, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3. Okay. And he doesn't want, at this point, he doesn't want any stories.
[00:02:40] And then I've got the L15, which is the landing, like the landing of your story. Okay, so I'm going to just quickly do this right now. I'm going to do so the intro to self, the topic I mentioned, Shimani money here, and I'm quoting, it's a Seth Godin quote. This whole thing is based on that. It's something like people.
[00:03:05] People spelled right. People like that do things like this. Something like that. Right?
[00:03:12] And so I've got to not get into the story and yet sell you on this pitch. So what are. What are we really talking about? And I'm going to get into my points here.
[00:03:23] So F15. This is mine now. And I'm going to do so intro.
[00:03:29] I want to say how so so here. This is tough because I don't want to get into content like, what is this about? And what is it really about? It's about fear.
[00:03:38] But I want to get into my points because my points are fear labels, really. And then action.
[00:03:47] And then my L15. My landing is I want to twist or like flip that quote from people like that.
[00:04:03] Like that do things like this.
[00:04:06] Because my main premise is people like us do things like this, and the main premise is there's a difference.
[00:04:18] Why do some people get. Get to do what they get to do?
[00:04:29] So this is why I'm working on it. Can you tell this is why I'm struggling with this. What is this really about? This story, by the way, is already. It's in an anthology. It's in Unexpected Gifts. I've already done a talk on this, and here I am trying to structure it, which is very difficult for Bradley Charbonneau here. And. But this is good. This is important. This is the stuff people like me need, people creators like me who. Who just want to go and just jump up there and do improv and create. Right? So what is it about? What is it about?
[00:05:05] Maybe you can help me, right, If I tell you the story, I think maybe you know the story. My story's on my YouTube channel. It's on my podcast. It's. It's the. It's in that anthology. And it's basically how we are traveling and we're backpackers, and I feel like I'm a beginner backpacker. And we're at this lodge and there's a girl behind the desk who.
[00:05:27] Reception or bar? All of the above. And I was like, wow, she's amazing. Right? She works behind a bar at this lodge in Zimbabwe. In Africa. Right. It just. It can't get more exotic, especially for me. I'm like, oh, this little backpacker. I'm like, oh, I'm just getting started. I'm just a little kindergartner. And you're like a PhD of travel. You're amazing. You work here.
[00:05:48] And so I thought people like me can't do things like that.
[00:05:53] And people like her do things like that. So how do I become that kind of person who does that kind of thing?
[00:06:00] So totally ruining the story for you. What happens is my girlfriend gets a job offer to do that job.
[00:06:10] And my initial reaction is people like us don't do things like that.
[00:06:15] And she apparently we hadn't known each other long enough because she's like, I'll take the job.
[00:06:22] What? What? How can you take the job? What do you mean? Because don't forget, people like us don't do things like that.
[00:06:28] That's the story. So now how do I sell this? How do I put this into words without telling the story, you know, to the event organizer and pitch my story? So maybe you can help me in the comments with what is this about? What is this story about? And so that's where I had point one ahead.
[00:06:48] Fear.
[00:06:49] I fear. Is it like labels and like judgment fear? And then action. But another part of the action is follow action of others because totally going to ruin the story for you here. But a girlfriend takes the job and I'm flabbergasted. And then a few days later, another opening, another job opening comes up and guess what I do. I take the job.
[00:07:18] How is that possible? How did I become the type of person who does that type of thing? Because frankly, chicken boy here, scaredy cat here. That's me.
[00:07:30] I don't know if I was so scared, but I just thought I'm just not the type of person who does that. I wish I were, but I'm not. So maybe, maybe it's maybe like a good word is like yet, right? Or like maybe it's growth mindset.
[00:07:48] I'm not that type of person yet. Maybe that's it or. So there you go. There you have it. That's my homework assignment. I have. I think I'm at eight minutes. I want to wrap this up. This is my homework for today. I have to, you know, do this at 4pm today. It's 7:40 in the morning here and I'm trying to work through my homework and I wanted to share it with you because it's Thursday and if you, if I come back into Bradley Charbonneau a little bit right here and I say it's Thursday, I need a Thursday Thunder. I need a video, I need a podcast and this is what you're getting. Ideally under 10 minutes. So I've got to squeeze this thing into under 10 minutes. I also want to give you a little insight into the kind of stuff I do. I'm at this conference, it's called mindvalleyu here. I'll just type it out for you. Mindvalley.com/. You like university And I am loving it. This is so my cup of tea. There is spirituality and science. There is mathematics and magic. Right. It is a. It is just so up my alley. I'm loving it. I mean, there's entrepreneurial stuff and there's way woo woo stuff and I'm loving it. I'm loving all of it. So. And especially this Eric Edmides. I'm going to get his name right. Eric Admiris. I am just fanboiling fan fan. I'm fan boiling again. I'm boiling fans. That's what I'm doing. I'm a fanboy of this guy. He is amazing and I'm loving that he's forcing me to get structured on my work. So here you go. I got to finish my homework assignment. Thanks for joining me today. If you like this kind of stuff, let me know in the comments or give me a like or subscribe. Let me know if you'd like to see more like behind the scenes of what I'm doing, conferences I go to, homework I do behind the scenes. And as you may notice, no matter what, right? No matter what. I'm doing a video, but I've got to get up early and do it before I go to school or whatever it's going to get done. If I didn't do it this morning, I'd be doing it late tonight. Morning, guy. I know my times, I know my rhythms and this is my time. When is your time? I'll see you next Thursday. Thanks for watching. Bye for now.
